It is so nice to see that these tools will be revived and see service again! I posted a series on my blog about rehabbing an old Stanley bench plane that I had mistreated before I understood this tool. It was used in rough carpentry and spent it's life in the bottom of my carpenter's box when not being used. It was a lot of fun to remove the rust, lap the bottom and put a freshly sharpened blade back into use on my bench! Shannon -

Since the posting of this entry I did receive my auger file. I have put it to work on a few of the larger bits and they are so much better now. I am gearing up to make some pretty hefty mortises on my new workbench and I look forward to putting these to work. This bench will definately be another tool to be used by generations after me so it is only appropriate I use the tools I have inheirited. Stephen,
